A new study could have you and your family powering down the electronics before bed. Research recently done on sleep quality in kids and teens found that having devices in the bedroom could be contributing to a lack of sleep.
After studying youth ages 6-19, researchers found that 89% of adolescents and 72% of all children use a device near bedtime. The study found a strong connection between lack of sleep and poor sleep quality when using a device before bed. It also found that having devices in the bedroom at night can take a toll on a person’s sleep pattern even if it’s not being used because of the lights that can be emitted throughout the night.
The study also notes that sleeping with a device of any kind in the room is a major health concern and says parents, teachers, and guardians should do their best to educate children on the importance of powering down at night!
