Yesterday I was proud to once again take part in the annual Ovarian Cancer Walk of Hope in Rick Hansen Park. The walk was created back in 2002 by Peggy Truscott, a very well known volunteer with Ovarian Cancer Canada, and this year two hard-working and dedicated volunteers from Regina, Wendy Sutherland and Joanne Gasper, co-chairs of the Ovarian Cancer Walk of Hope in Regina, were awarded the Peggy Truscott Award of Hope for their contributions and involvement with Ovarian Cancer Canada. Wendy first began volunteering with the Walk of Hope after her best friend Debbie was diagnosed with ovarian cancer, and a few years later Joanne joined as well. Together sisters Wendy and Joanne have worked to make Regina’s Walk of Hope one of the biggest in the country. This year the walk was the most successful yet, beating it’s $90,000 goal by a long shot in bringing in a total of $120,496 for ovarian cancer research. Take a look at some of the pictures from this year’s event below!
