..literally… a new study says coffee can help you live LONGER!

I know what you are thinking, “Who funded the survey, Folgers?” no this is from the New England Journal of Medicine! Which, to me, actually sounds like a legitimate source for health stuff!

See! They’ve even got a cool red logo/sheild thingy! They’re legit!

Theofficial findings are men, who drank at least six cups of coffee a day, had a 10% lower chance of dying  during a 14-year study period than those, who drank none. For women, the risk  was 15% lower.

The National Coffee Association says 64% of adults drink coffee  daily. At 3.2 cups a piece, that amounts to some 479 million cups a day.

To me, the most shocking part of all this is that “The National Coffee Association” is something that exists..

I am not a thief, robber, or bad person.

Pictured above: Not me.

But I would like to think, I’m also not an idiot, and if I decided to rob say, a coffee shop, I’d be a bit smarter than these two in Columbia.

The Bogota, Colombia police recently had an easy time arresting two men, who robbed an Internet cafe.

The men rented some computers, which may or may not require a credit card, I’m willing to give them the benefit of the doubt and say they paid with cash.

They then checked their Facebook accounts, I assume as to look busy and remain the element of surprise when they whipped out guns and robbed the place.

The police were able to track the thieves because one of them forgot to log out of Facebook. Both men are now in jail.

Ladies, searching for what is going on in your mans’ head?

I’m here to help. Let Dr. Matt, the psychoanalyst, pull up a chair.

The following are queries that have been asked of me, emailed, commented or asked in person about MEN. I’ll do my best to explain our behaviour…

1. Why are Men oblivious to certain details of the story I’m telling them? Ex: Your friend had a baby, we don’t remember the name, the sex, if it had hair, etc.

The answer is simple, harsh, but simple, deep down, we don’t care.We don’t. Does it affect us personally and/or immediatly? No? Then it’s something we’re probably going to forget. We got SPORTS STATS TO MEMORIZE!

2. How come he never knows when something is wrong?

I’m going to have to redirect the blame back onto you ladies with this one. In MOST cases, its usually because you tell us you’re fine. You’re good? Alright, cool. Nothing here to fix, lets move on to the leaky
sink.

3. Why leave dirty clothes outside the hamper? Just outside the hamper, on the end of the bed, but never IN the hamper.

Oh that’s an easy one. Guys have many many LEVELS of dirty clothing. For women, there is dirty clothes and clean clothes. Guys will leave a previously worn shirt just outside the hamper so he remembers to give it the sniff test before throwing it on for another go-round.

4. Why not just LOOK AT A MAP??

Because we know where we are going. Clearly. It’s the house about 3 clicks west of the old grid road turn off right? No problem. We’ll find it.

A 15 year school girl in England has been suspended.

What did she do? Vandalize property? Talk back to her teachers? Fail too many classes?

No, in fact she is a “A” student.

Her crime was dying her hair… RED!

I know! It’s pretty shocking.

Here is the girl in question…

So, in the school’s defense it IS a private school with a dress code. You have to wear the suit and tie and all that crazy stuff.. but really? Her hair is TOO red? That’s a suspendable offense?

The girl is a straight A student, and it is the middle of exams. They couldn’t cut a model student a little slack because her home dye kit got a little out of control?

I can’t imagine going to class in a school with a dress code… mostly because I wasn’t smart enough to get into one, but secondly I’d think there would be just offer up too many chanes to rebel against “the man” loosening the tie, scuffing a shoe! There’d be no limit to my crazyness!

It’s EXTREMELY rare that a movie lives up to the hype machine.

It is even rarer when a movie that has a studio has been been building towards for literally 5 years lives up to the hype. In fact, to my knowledge, it’s only been attempted once.

Which leads me to today’s post.

THE AVENGERS!

Since “Iron Man” came out in May of 2008, they have been hinting at, usually in post credit scenes in nearly every Marvel movie (Iron man 2, The Incredible Hulk, Thor, Captain America) towards this film, which is in theaters now.

Let me tell you, it LIVES up to the hype!

Over 2 and a half hours of action, humour, outstanding acting by all parties involved. There isn’t a weak spot in the entire cast.

I really struggle to find a weak spot in the ENTIRE film. One point could be made that if you haven’t seen the aforementioned Marvel movies, you will definitely be at a disadvantage in knowing the back stories and will not get nearly as much out of the film as someone who has, because in every way this IS a sequel to Iron Man 2, The Incredible Hulk, Thor and Captain America. It’s how they billed it right from the start, 4 years ago when Samuel L. Jackson appeared after the credits in the first Iron Man, which gave comic book geeks fits and wishing they could transport themselves to the future to watch THIS film.

There is something for everyone in this movie… comic books fans (goes without saying), action movie fans (lots of EXPLOSIONS), the ladies (Chris Hemsworth, need I say more?) even comedy fans (a surprising amount of laughs)

I give this film 9.5 thumbs up !

The history of whistling…

So, a couple at a Texas Rangers game this past week caught a fowl ball.

Naturally they were pretty excited about it. APPARENTLY they didn’t notice the 3 year old next to them crying. Or if they did, they assumed he was upset about something else (noise, etc)

The father of the boy says the couple have been unfairly demonized.

The couple says they would like an apology from the play by play calling them out for it!

We’ve all had a picture we didn’t want posted to facebook, posted to facebook…

It happens.

But every once and awhile, your faith in humanity is called into question when you read a story like this…

Guy in the states, decided it would be a great idea to siphon some gas from car. Not just any car.. a police car! Pretty stupid right? It’s worse…

He had his girlfriend take a picture while he did it!

REALLY stupid right? Evidence! Oh but it gets worse..

You’ve probably figured it out by now.. he posted the picture to FACEBOOK!

Naturally, he was arrested, then of course, joked about it with his friends on his facebook timeline afterwards.

Not sure what scares me more. The fact people are this stupid, or the fact he has a GIRLFRIEND.. in other words, capable of reproducing.
