During the holidays we often find ourselves donating generously to organizations around the city who work hard to feed the homeless and less fortunate. Often times we tend to forget that poverty and hunger aren’t just an issue from December 1st-25th, and for many people these issues are a reality every single day.
One business in Montreal is hoping to help ease the burden of going hungry for some. For the past four months Marche Ferdous has been providing free meals to customers who come in without any money…no questions asked.
They say the idea came after noticing a lot of people on the streets of Montreal begging for change to buy food. Living by the motto “if you do good, you will find good”, the free food idea was born with a simple sign posted on the restaurant’s front door, “people with no money welcome to eat free”. A simple concept that is definitely making a difference in the lives of many in Montreal.
