Looking to lengthen your life expectancy? Might be time to add a few new sports to your activity schedule! A study from Oxford University has found that swimming, tennis, and group aerobics could be the most beneficial exercises for a long and healthy life!
Tennis and other racquet sports topped the list! After studying over 80,000 people the study found that people who played these sports decreased their risk of dying by about 47 per cent. Among swimmers the risk of dying was 28% lower and 27% lower among those who took part in aerobics classes.
Researchers also found that people who take part in team sports and activities boost their overall mental health because they are not only getting the physical activity crucial to a long life, but the social experience makes them happier.
Of course not everyone finds tennis, swimming, and group fitness classes interesting; researchers say even going for a walk regularly can help!
In their words, “Find something you love, do it with people you love, and it will serve you well”.
