Have you been preparing for the holidays by changing up your diet or exercising more in anticipation of what’s to come next month? Maybe you’ve noticed that you’ve plateaued in a possible weight-loss effort or you aren’t seeing results that you’d like to.
It could be time to take a look at what you’re eating for breakfast! It’s long been said that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and it could also be what’s hindering your weight-loss results.
Here are a few things you might not know you’ve been doing at breakfast that could be ruining your diet and exercise efforts!
– Eating too many carbs or calories – more carbs and calories can make you feel full right away, but it’s better to stick with a well rounded meal with fewer calories, one piece of toast instead of two with an egg and some fruit rather than a bagel loaded with cream cheese.
– Not getting enough protein – many times in an effort to lose weight people will increase the amount of healthy fats and super-foods in their diet but forget to add the protein. Healthy breakfast smoothies are great, but if they are loaded with healthy fats and little protein it can be hard to boost your metabolism!
– Using too much cooking oil – make sure you are measuring what you use and incorporating the calories and fat into your meal. Olive oil is a great kitchen tool but moderation is key!
– Drinking juice – we often assume a small glass of orange juice is a healthy addition to breakfast, but it could actually be the exact opposite! Store bought juices contain tons of added sugar so it might be best to stick with a piece of fruit and glass of water in substitute of your morning OJ!
