Have trouble keeping up with your regular cleanings at the dentist? This might get you a little more motivated to get back into a routine with your dental hygiene! A recent study has found that regular trips to the dentist could prevent pneumonia! The study took a look at the records of over 26,000 people and found that those who kept up with their regular checkups and cleanings tended not to get sick as much. Based on their findings, researchers determined that those who skip out on their dental appointments had double the risk of catching pneumonia than those who went regularly. Doctors say the reasoning is simple, regular cleanings means regularly getting rid of bacteria from your mouth which reduces the risk you will inhale it into your lungs. Based on these findings it should be safe to assume that the same can be said for getting sick in general.
