A group of NICU nurses and some volunteers at Saint Luke’s Hospital of Kansas City are making Halloween special for babies currently in their care! Together with the babies’ family members, the nurses and volunteers created Halloween costumes and mini crocheted Halloween baskets to mimic those that children take out trick-or-treating. Parents of each baby were asked which costume they would like to see their little one in and then the nurses and volunteers got to work, and what a great job they did! the hospitals director of media relations says the goal of the project was to bring a bit of normalcy to the lives of the families who often spend months on end in the NICU. She says the idea was so popular they are already planning something similar for Christmas!
