Have trouble getting your kids to eat their vegetables, or maybe they’re extremely picky about what seems like everything you put on the table? A study has found that a lot of that behaviour comes from genetics! The study focused mainly on two behaviours – being fussy over taste, smell, and texture, and refusal to try any new food. After following almost 2000 sets of twins the study found that genetics played a factor in about 46% of fussiness and about 58% of refusal to try new food out. So if you have a child who never wants to try anything, don’t worry it’s not your cooking, it’s just how they were born. Researchers say the best thing going forward is just making mealtime as positive as possible so they maybe the first reaction isn’t to be picky about what’s on their plate!
